While out on the recruiting trail in Alabama earlier this week, Clemson made a stop at the school of a highly touted linebacker target in the 2025 class.
Defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin went by Enterprise (Ala.) High School on Tuesday to check in on four-star Eric Winters, a top-100 national recruit.
“It feels great to know they’re stopping by to check on me,” he told The Clemson Insider.
Winters is ranked among the country’s top 100 prospects in his class, regardless of position, by ESPN (No. 83) and 247Sports (No. 35). The latter ranks him as the No. 4 recruit in the Yellowhammer State and the No. 5 linebacker nationally.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior has been keeping in touch with Goodwin.
“Me and Coach Goodwin stay in contact, just talking about any and everything,” he said.
Winters, who scored an offer from Clemson after working out at the Dabo Swinney Camp last summer, is looking to return to Tiger Town.
“I want to come back during the spring,” he said.
Where do the Tigers stand with him at this point in his recruiting process?
“Still one of my top schools,” he said.
Winters’ list of more than two dozen offers features schools such as Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and Southern Cal, along with Clemson.
