The Nike “Next Ones” event in Las Vegas took place last weekend, and two future Clemson Tigers showcased their talents.

Following his 43-touchdown junior season, 2035 four-star running back Gideon Davidson earned a massive opportunity. After his experience, Clemson Insider caught up with the future Clemson rusher.

He detailed the weekend as a whole, representing the Washington Commanders over Super Bowl weekend.

“The Las Vegas trip was amazing We got tons of gear and products from Nike and they treated us with so much respect and care for us. I enjoyed it very much. It was an experience I couldn’t pass up and I was very glad I got the opportunity to do it,” Davidson said. “Representing an NFL team was something else I never thought I would be chosen to represent an NFL team while I was in high school.”

This was an event that only invited 33 of the best high school talents in the country, and Davidson was honored to be a part of that group. The competition was something that impressed him, and he didn’t take that chance for granted.

During the showcase, Davidson was coached by some of the NFL’s historic greats. One of those was his coach in the event, former NFL quarterback Mike Vick.

“It was super fun to challenge myself against these guys. Everyone of those players there were definitely next level and I was so grateful to showcase what I could do in front of some big names like Mike Vick who happened to be my coach and LaDainian Tomlinson. So it was fun getting the chance to do all of that,” Davidson said.

Working next to those two greats is the perfect recipe on how to be an elite rusher at the next level as both were the best ball carriers at their position during their era. Davidson was honored by the opportunity and soaked up all the information he could. He also noted that running backs coach CJ Spiller reached out after to hear all about it.

While he was in Las Vegas, Davidson roomed with future Tigers quarterback Blake Hebert. They’ve grown closer since committing, but this was a moment the two truly bonded according to Davidson.

“Just enjoying building new relationships with guys from all across the country and also getting to spend time with Blake and getting to know him more. Rooming with him definitely gave us a better connection and experience,” Davidson said.

As Davidson enters his senior season, connecting with his future Clemson teammates is a priority and he’s also been a heavy recruiter on the offensive line front. This opportunity was the latest place he’s showcased his talents, and he’ll be a large commodity in the Tigers running back stable.
