2026 Class is Crucial for Clemson’s QB Security

The future of quarterback at Clemson could be bleak if the Tigers don’t hammer the position in the next year. Right now, the Tigers are reliant on Cade Klubnik and Christopher Vizzina, but two scholarship quarterbacks leaves a lot of concern.

Dabo Swinney called Vizzina the “2024 guy” as in Clemson didn’t need a commitment for that class at quarterback, but the good news is the Tigers landed four-star Blake Hebert in 2025. The problem is what the group could look like in a year or two.

Klubnik is eligible for the NFL draft after this season. Yes, that sounds like a far cry today but anything can happen and the reality is he’s gone in the next two seasons. Bring in Hebert and Clemson will have three quarterbacks in best case.

That brings us to 2026. The Tigers could come into that class with Klubnik graduating as the pair of Vizzina and Hebert compete for the starting job. That’s not a deep enough quarterback room, but Clemson already knows that and is making efforts on the recruiting trail.

Cass High School (Ga.) quarterback Brodie McWhorter is a player the Tigers have had their eyes on for a while, and he was in town for a game visit in the fall. Four-star Will Griffin is another quarterback to keep eyes on as Clemson’s summer offers approach.

This is the time where the Tigers really make their stamp in a future class as offers roll in over the summer and Clemson hosts many for the Dabo Swinney Camp. No position may be a bigger focus than quarterback, or else it will be a thin room in the future. How the Tigers build relationships with the 2026 quarterbacks will be one to watch.
