Analysts Talk Orhorhoro, Strong NFL Combine Showing

Former Clemson defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro was very impressive Thursday at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The 6-foot-4, 294-pounder posted an official time of 4.89 in the 40-yard dash, the fourth-fastest time among all defensive tackles who ran the 40 at the combine.

Orhorhoro also looked really good during his position group’s on-field workouts.

“He’s really, really athletic,” NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah said during the network’s broadcast of the combine.

“Really, really explosive… He can stack blocks. He can play inside, he can play outside. You’ll see him just destroy pullers when they come get him. He attacks it.”

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan, who joined NFL Network’s coverage of the combine Thursday, liked what he saw from Orhorhoro in the on-field drills.

“He looks smooth to me out the turns,” Jordan said. “His ability to get low shows he has a great ability to navigate his center of balance. That helps alone just in terms of the trench warfare that happens in that center-guard area.”

“One of the things, too, about him – his effort is outstanding,” Jeremiah added. “He’ll chase.”

It was a standout day overall for Orhorhoro, whose 10-yard split (1.67) was the second-best among defensive tackles at the combine. He also had the fourth-best vertical jump (32 inches) and second-best broad jump (nine feet, eight inches) in the defensive tackle group.

Along with a dozen career sacks, Orhorhoro was credited with 97 tackles (25.5 for loss), nine pass breakups and two fumble recoveries over 53 career games (30 starts) from 2019-23.

Orhorhoro was a third-team All-ACC selection this past season, when he tallied 22 tackles (8.0 for loss), a career-high 5.0 sacks and a pass breakup across 12 games (all starts).

Orhorhoro’s strong combine performance should only help his stock heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, which is set to be held in Detroit from April 25–27.
