4-Star In-State OL ‘Definitely Excited’ for Clemson Return Visit

After traveling to Tiger Town for the first time this past fall, a standout in-state offensive line prospect will return to Clemson next weekend.

Timberland High School (Saint Stephen, S.C.) four-star Desmond Green, a class of 2026 recruit, is set to attend the Tigers’ second junior day of the year on Saturday, March 9.

“I’m definitely excited to have an opportunity to go back up there once again, and to meet some new people and try to make a better connection and friendship with some of the guys that I’ve already had a chance to talk to and be around,” Green told The Clemson Insider. “That’s what I’m really trying to get out of this next visit.”

It will be his second visit to Clemson, as the Tigers also played host to the 6-foot-5, 345-pounder for the Georgia Tech game in November.

“It was a rainy day game, so I really wasn’t probably able to see the full potential of all the Clemson fans come show their support for a football game that day,” Green said. “But then again, it was a pretty packed house, so I think that kind of shows how loyal and devoted their fan base is to their football team, even considering the conditions. But I think the Walk of Champions and running down the hill is definitely one of the most interesting and unique things I’ve seen compared to my other visits that I’ve been on.”

What has Green been hearing from Clemson’s coaching staff heading into next weekend’s junior day visit?

“I think the coaches up there are really excited to be able to see me again and they’re wondering what’s next for me since the last offensive line coach had to step out,” he said. “So now that they have a new coach, I’m pretty sure the rest of the coaching staff wants me to get to know this new coach, coach Matt Luke.”

Meeting Luke, who replaced Thomas Austin as the Tigers’ offensive line coach in early December, is something Green certainly looks forward to.

“I haven’t been able to talk to (Luke) at all since his arrival at Clemson, which is another reason why I’m so excited to have an opportunity to visit their school again,” Green said, “because I want to get to know this new coach and how he does things, and fortunately enough, I’ll be able to witness all that during the practice.”

Ahead of his junior year in 2024, Green has collected offers from schools such as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

The class of 2026 won’t start getting offered by Clemson until this summer, but Green says the Tigers “would stand pretty highly” in his recruitment if he receives an offer from Dabo Swinney’s program.

“I feel as though whenever coach Swinney starts his process for offering class of 2026, I believe that their standing will rise more in my recruitment,” he said.
