Clemson Spring Practice Observations: Day 3

CLEMSON — The Clemson Football team held Day 3 of spring drills behind the Allen Reeves Football Complex in Clemson on Monday.

The Tigers were dressed in full pads for the first time this spring. Here are some of the things we were able to see while getting an opportunity to watch the first five-plus periods of practice.

–Not sure what happened, but during one of the passing drills, wide receiver Troy Stellato pulled up and was grabbing the inside of his right thigh. He stepped off the field and was looked at by trainers. He was noticeably not happy and he looked like he was in some kind of discomfort. He did not come back in, at least, while the media was able to watch.

–Also, wide receiver Adam Randall was in a yellow jersey and did not participate in practice. He did not look like he was in any discomfort or anything. He did have a leg sleeve on his right leg.

–During one of the punt drills, linebacker Dee Crayton showed off his strength as he jacked up one of the gunners.

–Freshman wide receiver Bryant Wesco made a nice over-the-shoulder catch from quarterback Cade Klubnik.

–Defensive end TJ Parker, who is wearing No. 3 now, was wearing a regular jersey in practice. He was wearing a green jersey the first two practices this spring.

–Avieon Terrell got to practice a little late, as he ran onto the field just before the Tigers started doing kicking drills. By the way, like Parker, he was not wearing a green jersey in practice after wearing one on Friday. Terrell did have a slight limp as he worked out on Monday.

–Practice started with kickers Robert Gunn and Nolan Hauser battling each other. Gunn made all his kicks, none longer than 37 yards. Hauser made all of his too, but he did just sneak a 32-yard kick into the left upright. Head coach Dabo Swinney asked Gunn to try one extra kick, which Gunn made.

–As for the running back rotation right now, we noticed Keith Adams is still getting No. 2 reps behind Phil Mafah, while Jarvis Green, Peyton Streko and David Eziomume are all falling behind him in that order. Redshirt freshman Jay Haynes is still in a yellow jersey.
