Swinney Updates Injury on Second-Year OL

CLEMSON – Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an update on an offensive lineman’s health as the Tigers completed its fourth day of spring practice.

Redshirt freshman Ian Reed played in one game last season and dealt with a XXX injury. Swinney said this time last year, he knew that Reed was a “work in progress” but that’s not nearly the case heading into Year 2. On top of that, he’s gained the full attention of the Clemson offensive line coach.

“He’s back out there…he missed weeks and weeks and weeks with his situation. It’s something he’s dealt with his whole life really, childhood and all…he’s actually felt really good,” Swinney said. “I’ll tell you what…he’s competitive, won’t back down. I’d say he’s a guy that’s caught Matt (Luke)’s eye early just from his toughness.”

Swinney went on to say how he missed a lot of time last fall, but the trajectory looks like that won’t be the case for Reed in his second year as a Tiger.

“He’s doing a lot better,” Swinney said. “It seems like they’ve gotten everything back to a good spot.”
