Where Is Clemson in This National Analyst’s Spring Top 25?

With spring ball upon us, this national college football analyst re-ranked who he sees as the best teams in the sport right now.

Fox Sports’ RJ Young updated his top 25, considering coaching changes and transfer portal movement, and he has Clemson at No. 14 in his latest rankings.

“Cade Klubnik and Garrett Riley enter Year 2,” Young wrote. “But Will Shipley is gone. Offensive line coach Matt Luke has to bring that five-man unit up to ACC title-caliber contention.”

Young has Florida State at No. 7 as the highest-ranked ACC team, with Louisville (No. 24) the only other ACC team he has in his top 25 besides Clemson.

“DJ Uiagalelei joins a program that finished the regular season undefeated with an ACC title but was deemed not good enough to earn an invitation to the CFP,” Young wrote regarding FSU.

“Mike Norvell and the Noles will look to run it back with a prize pick of portal transfers that include former Georgia linebacker Marvin Jones Jr., and former Alabama players Shawn Murphy, Terrence Ferguson, Earl Little, Malik Benson and RB Roydell Williams.”

Miami and incoming ACC team SMU are among the teams that Young has just missing his top 25.

Ohio State is Young’s No. 1 team, with Georgia, Texas, Oregon and Michigan rounding out his top 5.

Clemson opens the 2024 season against Georgia in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31. The Tigers finished the 2023 campaign 9-4 (4-4 ACC), ending up at No. 20 in both the final AP Top 25 and final Coaches Poll.
