Clemson Dominates in 12-0 Win Over Fordham

CLEMSON- Tenth-ranked Clemson secured a sweep at the Tiger Invitational Sunday with a shutout 12-0 win over Fordham.

The Tigers (15-5) found offensive success early against the Rams, securing a two-run lead in the first and extending it steadily with the help of 10 more RBIs and two deciding home runs from McKenzie Clark.

The 12-0 win marks the largest margin of victory of the season for Clemson. Junior pitcher Regan Spencer ensured the Rams never had a chance to cut the lead. Spencer allowed no runs off of just two hits in six innings of production.

Offensively, third baseman Alex Brown (2-4) started the action for the Tigers in the first by singling and immediately stealing second, then third. She was knocked in for the first score of the meeting by an Alia Logoleo (2-3) double to left center. Second baseman Maddie Moore kept the momentum going, driving in Logoleo for the second RBI of the day.

Poor infield communication allowed Fordham to load the bases early, but the Tigers proved their defensive prowess in response. A double play and a strikeout courtesy of Spencer ended the inning and kept Fordham scoreless t the end of one.

Fordham left eight batters stranded throughout the game.

An explosive two-out rally powered by singles from Kylee Johnson and Abi Stuart and a double from Logoleo put the Tigers up 5-0 after three innings. Redshirt Senior Valerie Cagle extended the lead in the fourth, ripping a left-field double to drive in Brown for the sixth RBI of the day and Cagle’s 22nd this season.

Kennedy Ariail knocked in Haylee Whitesides for the eighth run.

Clark’s homers marked her fifth and sixth of the year. Clark’s final base-clearing homer brought the final score to 12-0.

Junior Brooke McCubbin started in the circle for the Tigers. After giving up two singles and walking a baserunner in the first, she was replaced by Spencer. With the win, Spencer picked up her third win of the season. Olivia Duncan replaced her in the seventh.
