A Clemson pro, who’s garnering interest on the free agent market, is reportedly set to meet with this NFL team.
Veteran defensive tackle D.J. Reader is scheduled to visit with the Detroit Lions. Per reports, that visit will take place Thursday.
This past season, Reader played the final year of his four-year, $53 million deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Prior to suffering a season-ending torn quad tendon — the same injury he suffered in 2020 — Reader performed well through 14 games, recording 34 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, seven quarterback hits, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo noted that the Bengals would like to re-sign Reader but the 29-year-old “has interest from a few teams” and that “the visit and medicals will be a big part of the process.”
Since entering the league in 2016 after being drafted in the fifth round that year by the Houston Texans, Reader has racked up 277 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in his career with the Texans and Bengals.
