Clemson Lands Huge Commitment

The Clemson football program picked up a huge commitment on Monday.

Cedartown (Ga.) High School four-star defensive back Tae Harris announced his commitment to the Tigers.

A former Georgia commitment, Harris is ranked as high as the No. 125 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports.

The 6-foot, 200-pound rising senior visited Clemson for its March 9 junior day. His verbal pledge brings the number of commitments in Clemson’s 2025 class up to 11.

Harris decommitted from the Bulldogs on Jan. 21, and Clemson pounced with an offer a day later.

“Coach Swinney just told me how much they needed me. Tells me how good of a player I am and tells me where I fit in this team, I can come in and play, really stuff like that,” Harris told The Clemson Insider after receiving the offer and a visit from Dabo Swinney and the Tigers’ staff.

“Coach (Mickey) Conn, you know, he’s been recruiting me for some months now. I’m the number one safety on his board because my versatility, my length, stuff like that. Coach Wes Goodwin tells me I’m the safety he’s been looking for these past few years.”

Harris has a strong bond with Clemson rising sophomore safety and fellow Peach State native Khalil Barnes. The two faced off in high school, and a relationship was built by competition.

Barnes has had a hand in the recruiting process, pushing for Harris to join the Tigers just as much as the coaching staff.

“We just became like brothers, since he’s been in college, stuff like that,” Harris said. “So he’s been telling me they needed me, they really want me on their board, number one safety… So for the longest, he wanted me to decommit.”
