“He’s right where he needs to be,” Stefanski said, via ClevelandBrowns.com. “Joe Sheehan, our trainer, went out and supervised his throwing. We’ll see him in April, and we’ll just continue that rehab. I’ll stay out of it and the doctors and trainers will tell me when he’s ready. I know he’s doing a great job. He’s right where he needs to be.”
After suffering a season-ending shoulder injury last season, Deshaun Watson is now back to throwing again.
The former Clemson star and current Cleveland Browns quarterback had surgery back on Nov. 21 to repair a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right (throwing) shoulder. He sustained the injury in Cleveland’s Week 10 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
In a recent episode of QB Unplugged co-hosted by Watson and his personal QB coach, Quincy Avery, Watson gave an update on his shoulder rehab and spoke optimistic about his progress, saying “the situation is good.”
“We’re in a great spot, right where we need to be. Right on track. We have plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions and things like that, but everything has been going pretty smooth,” Watson said.
“As long as I’m feeling well and the doctors and [physical therapists] and everyone are on the same page, we’re in a good spot.”
Browns general manager Andrew Berry said recently they anticipate Watson being good to go in plenty of time before the beginning of the 2024 season, while Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski said recently that he expects Watson to throw with the team in OTAs this spring.
Prior to the season-ending injury, Watson completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 1,115 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions across six games in 2023.
The three-time Pro Bowler is entering his third year with the Browns in 2024. He has passed for 16,756 yards and 118 touchdowns with 45 interceptions in 66 career games with the Browns and Texans since being taken by Houston in the first round (12th overall) of the 2017 draft.
