CLEMSON — On Tuesday in Littlejohn Coliseum, Clemson formally introduced Shawn Poppie as the new women’s basketball head coach.
“It’s a tremendous day for Clemson, Clemson women’s basketball, and really, really excited to formally introduce Coach Shawn Poppie and his wife, Regina, and family here,” Clemson athletics director Graham Neff said.
Last Tuesday, Clemson officially approved the contract for Poppie as the new women’s basketball coach, with Poppie and Clemson agreeing to a six-year contract running through the 2029-30 season.
Poppie left Chattanooga to replace Amanda Butler, who was let go last month following six seasons at the helm of the Lady Tigers.
The 2023-24 Southern Conference Coach of the Year, Poppie joins the Tigers following two seasons at Chattanooga, where he compiled a 48-18 record with the Mocs, including a 28-win season this year en route to Chattanooga’s second-consecutive Southern Conference championship.
“What a welcome. It’s kind of been par for the course during the last week,” Poppie said. “What an unbelievable welcome from Clemson Family. It’s been much appreciated as obviously we uprooted my wife and three boys, or will be here in the next coming weeks.”
