Boyd is now on the Tigers staff, assisting in offensive player development, but he was a star quarterback from 2010-13. He set four program records in passing totals. That comes in 902 completions, 1,402 attempts, 11,904 passing yards and 107 passing touchdowns.
Through his four-year career, Boyd also. ended his career with ACC records in total touchdowns and passing touchdowns, which have now been passed. He formed an impressive tandem with Watkins, who was a first-team All-American in multiple seasons.
In 2012, Boyd set the program’s single-season record for passing touchdowns with 36. In the same season, he set the Clemson record with 3,896 passing yards and 299.7 yards per game.
Boyd set the single-season record in 2012 for attempts with 499. He also set the completion percentage record at 68.5 in 2013. That year, he set the passing efficiency record in a single season with a 168.7 rating.
Watkins finished his Clemson career with 240 catches for 3,391 yards and 27 touchdowns. He still holds the school record with receiving yards and his career catches record has since been passed by Artavis Scott (245). His touchdown catches are tied with Deandre Hopkins and Tee Higgins for the most in program history.
The future NFL journeyman became the first and only Clemson receiver to have over 100 receptions in a season with 101 in 2013. He set the receiving yards record in a season with 1,464.
Watkins holds the season record for receiving yards per game (112.6) and he’s one of only two Clemson players to average over 100 receiving yards per game in a season. Hopkins did it in 2012.
The duo of Boyd and Watkins combined to lead the Tigers to three-straight seasons with 10-plus wins and the 2011 ACC Championship. Now, they will be honored together accordingly.
