Raynor: CFB Recruits Grew Up Watching Clemson Dominate

The recruiting process includes so many fine details, but winning will always drop the mic.

Clemson held the crown in the ACC and sometimes college football over the last decade. The Tigers haven’t had a losing season since 2010, Dabo Swinney’s second year in the job.

Under his watch, Clemson ripped off 12 straight 10-win seasons. That included eight ACC titles and two national championships. Success at that scale reflects in the recruiting world.

The Athletic released its 2024 class rankings and the Tigers came in at No. 14. Grace Raynor detailed how Clemson continues to compete even when the naysayers bring up Swinney’s opinions on NIL and the transfer portal.

“Clemson had a bit of an identity crisis in 2023, but Dabo Swinney continues to compete with SEC schools on the recruiting trail. As long as he can convince recruits to ignore what his critics say about his thoughts around NIL and the transfer portal, Swinney should have a seat at the table with any player he wants. Despite the program’s recent struggles, this era of recruits still grew up watching Swinney and the Tigers dominate the sport.”

Clemson’s 2024 class features 22 commitments. That includes three five-stars in wide receivers Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore alongside linebacker Sammy Brown. The depth of the class stands up with all other players holding at least a three-star ranking.

The 9-4 finish last season will be looked at as a down year and rightfully so. That’s the standard the Tigers have set and should return to next season. And yet Swinney and Clemson continues to produce on the recruiting trail.
