Analyst Names Two Tigers Among Top WRs in ACC

ACC Network football analyst Eddie Royal joined ACCN’s ACC PM show this week.

Royal, the former Virginia Tech standout and longtime NFL wideout, gave who he sees as the top receivers in the ACC – five veterans and five who are “next up,” or as Royal put it, “the young guns, the guys that are up next that are gonna make splashes.”

Among the names on the “next up” portion of Royal’s list are a pair of Clemson pass catchers – sophomore Tyler Brown and redshirt sophomore Antonio Williams.

“Two names that we know from Clemson. Those are going to be dynamic guys if they can get consistent quarterback play as well,” said Royal, the 42nd overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft who had a nine-year NFL career with the Broncos, Chargers and Bears.

Here’s the full list of Royal’s top wide receivers in the ACC:

Vets

Xavier Restrepo, Miami

Jordan Moore, Duke

Malachi Fields, UVA

Taylor Morin, Wake

Jacolby George, Miami

Next Up

KC Concepcion, NC State

Eric Singleton Jr., Georgia Tech

Elic Ayomanor, Stanford

Tyler Brown, Clemson

Antonio Williams, Clemson

A local product of Greenville (S.C.) High School, Brown made an instant impact for the Tigers in 2023 and earned freshman All-American status from ESPN. He led Clemson in receptions (52) and receiving yards (531) and had four touchdown receptions.

Williams, Clemson’s leading receiver as a true freshman in 2022, was limited by various injuries to only four games in the regular season last year, triggering a mid-career redshirt. He posted 22 receptions for 224 yards with two touchdowns in 2023 afer earning freshman All-American recognition in 2022, when he caught 56 passes for 604 yards with four touchdowns.
