Davis Details ‘Dream Come True’ in NFL Draft

Former Clemson Tiger Tyler Davis had the Los Angeles Rams hat ready, and it was a moment he won’t forget as his NFL career begins.

Coming in as the No. 196 pick, Davis will compete in the defensive tackle rotation in Los Angeles. While he had to wait till Saturday to hear his name called, it’s a fit that he couldn’t be happier about.

“Definitely amazed. A dream come true, can’t wait to get to work,” Davis said in his post draft press conference. “I was a fan of Aaron Donald, one of my favorite players and jsut to be a part of the organization is definitely a dream come true.”

While improving his game over the years, Davis called future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald one of his favorite players to watch. It was Donald’s work ethic that impressed Davis the most.

That relentlessness is what made Donald a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. He also had 111 sacks over his 10 seasons in the NFL. Those are high marks that Davis can model his drive after.

Davis also had a big smile on his face when asked about fellow Clemson product Davis Allen. He said that texting him was one of the first things he’ll do. The two played together for four years as Tigers.

“Davis is my guy. Actually it’s so crazy, his parents texted my parents talking about ‘I hope he’s a Ram’ and it’s crazy how that happens,” Davis said.

Now that he’s headed to Los Angeles, Davis believes there’s a lot that he brings to the organization. While some might not expect a lot out of Davis as a sixth-round selection, he was an All-ACC player and versatility is his calling card.

“I think I bring a lot. My leadership qualities, just somebody that can play both run and pass. Somebody that is going to put in the work and be committed, somebody that you just don’t have to worry about off the field. Somebody that is going to be there, committed,” Davis said.

The Rams begin OTAs May 20 with rookie minicamp coming before, and that will be Davis’ first opportunity to make his mark in the NFL.
