TCI Recruiting Roundup: 4-Star DB Locks in Official Visit to Clemson, More News and Notes

The day before the spring game, 4-star CB Gregory “Zae” Thomas took an unofficial visit to Clemson.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect (American Heritage, Ft Lauderdale) was originally planning to visit for the spring game, but a scheduling conflict and logistics forced him in a day early. Thomas would leave town with an offer in hand.

Now we know when he will back on campus, as Thomas has locked in plans to be on hand for the big official weekend that begins on May 31.

Florida State is also set to get an official the weekend of June 21-23 and this looks like a battle that might come down to the Tigers and the Seminoles, although Thomas could ultimately end up scheduling more visits.

3-star CB Mark Manfred (Sprayberry, Marietta, Ga) has said publicly that he plans to be at Clemson’s big official visit weekend. Manfred was offered back in November and last visited for the Elite Retreat in January. He now has well over 30 offers, with Michigan State and Missouri being two of the latest.

3-star CB Kaleb Lanier (Decatur, Ga) announced a commitment to Duke on Saturday. While Lanier did not have an offer from Clemson, the Tigers had been showing legitimate interest over the past couple of months. Corners coach Mike Reed paid him a visit at his high school during the evaluation period in February and Lanier then visited Clemson in March for the Elite Junior Day. He had been talking about working out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp this summer.
