Ravens Turned Down Offers to Take Former Tiger

There was no doubt in the mind of the Baltimore Ravens’ front office in what its selection would be come No. 30.

Formee Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins was always going to be the pick, and a recent report proves it even more. According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, the Ravens turned down eight offers from other NFL teams looking to trade up.

The Ravens showed how much they wanted Wiggins by turning down eight trade offers from other teams looking to move up.

“For us, it was always, ‘If Nate [is] there, we [are] going to pick,'” DeCosta said. “In our opinion, [he’s] a guy that can be a true shutdown-type corner.

General manager Eric DeCosta was not moved in his decision. The story also noted that Baltimore’s representation told Wiggins they didn’t expect him to be there at their pick.

Fast forward to draft night and the impossible happened. Now Wiggins is joining a team ready to win now and expected to compete for a starting job across from former All-Pro Marlon Humphrey.
