A Tennessee offensive lineman is back on Clemson’s radar.
2025 lineman Michael Ray (Memphis University School, Tn) drew a visit to his school recently from OL coach Matt Luke.
Ray had been hearing from Clemson after the start of his junior season. He visited Clemson last summer. However, when Dabo Swinney brought on Luke as the new OL coach ahead of the Gator Bowl, that communication tapered off for awhile.
“Coach (Thomas) Austin and I communicated a bit when he was over there,” Ray told The Clemson Insider. “But then he left and we lost contact for a few months. Then it started picking back up here recently.”
Ray now has plans to be back at Clemson. He will work out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp next month, and he is ready to display his talent to Luke and the rest of the Tigers’ coaching staff.
“He knows what I can do, he has seen the film,” Ray said. “I just want to show him that I can compete. I really want to play at Clemson. It is an awesome place and really would love to play there. Just want to show them I can compete and that I am a potential player for them.”
As Ray goes through his recruitment, a strong culture is something he is seeking and he already knows enough about Clemson’s to know it aligns with what he is looking for.
Ray took spring visits to Florida State, Vanderbilt and Indiana. He has offers from Navy, Air Force and Memphis, and the goal at camp will be to add one from the Tigers.
“It would mean everything to me, Ray said. “I wouldn’t say it is a no-brainer at them moment but it would definitely put them very high up on the list for sure. An opportunity of a lifetime. I love Clemson. I respect everything they do. The numbers don’t lie, it’s a great program, so that would mean everything if I got a chance to play there. Hopefully something like that happens this summer.”
