Clemson’s Season Ends with 6-2 Loss to SE Louisiana in Tuscaloosa Regional

TUSCALOOSA, AL – SE Louisiana scored runs in the first three innings en route to a 6-2 win over No. 21 Clemson on Saturday night in an elimination game in the Tuscaloosa Regional at Rhoads Stadium. With the win, the third-seeded Lady Lions improve to 47-14 and advance to the Regional Championship against host Alabama while the second-seeded Tigers drop to 35-19 and see their season end. 

SE Louisiana jumped out to a quick start in the first inning as they turned four hits into a 3-0 lead. 

The Lady Lions added to their lead in the second with a two-run homer to stretch their advantage to 5-0.

After Clemson missed a scoring chance following a leadoff triple by McKenzie Clark in the top of the third, SE Louisiana didn’t miss their chance as they added another run in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 6-0.

The Tigers broke through in the fifth as Aby Vieira started things off with a single and Clark followed with a two-run comb to cut the deficit to 6-2.

SE Louisiana Ellie DuBois (16-5) earned the win after allowing two runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings. Clemson starter Brooke McCubbin (10-3) suffered the loss after allowing three runs on four hits in 1.0 innings. 

The Tigers finished the game with seven hits, led by Clark and Moore with two each, while the Lady Lions tallied eight hits in the contest.

With the loss, Clemson concludes its season and will start building towards the 2025 season.
