A former Clemson star receiver continues to work his way back from a season-ending injury in 2023.
Coming off an ACL tear in Week 3 of last season, Mike Williams has not yet been cleared for football activities, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters Tuesday.
Williams was working on a side field at the Jets’ OTAs on Tuesday. The start of training camp in July is when Williams could potentially return to on-field activity, but the Jets have not yet provided an official update on a timetable for his return.
A surehanded veteran wideout and dangerous deep threat, Williams signed a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the Jets in March after being released by the Los Angeles Chargers, who parted ways with Williams in order to save $20 million against their salary cap.
Williams joins the Jets after spending the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers, who made him the seventh overall selection in the 2017 draft.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound playmaker has dealt with injuries throughout his time in the league but been highly productive when healthy, piling up 309 catches for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns across 88 career games.
Williams, 29, posted 19 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown in 2023 before his season was cut short by the torn ACL.

Hello from OTAs. Robert Saleh says Aaron Rodgers is under no on-field restrictions as OTA practices begin: “he’s doing everything.” AVT and Mike Williams are still working off to the side and not yet cleared to do more than that. #Jets pic.twitter.com/3ZOx5C05VQ
