Is Aidan Knaak Staying with the Tigers?

Multiple Clemson baseball players have entered the NCAA transfer portal since the Tigers’ 2024 season came to an end on Sunday in the Clemson Super Regional. But this star pitcher says he isn’t going anywhere.

Freshman righthander Aidan Knaak met with the media on Wednesday and said he is staying at Clemson.

“This is the best coaching staff in the country, so I would never want to go play for anyone else,” Knaak said. “They just make the team, everything so much more fun to play for, and Clemson University is such a great school. So yeah, I’m not going anywhere.”

Infielder Cooper Blauser joined pitcher Billy Barlow as Clemson players to have entered the portal in the past two days.

Knaak was asked about the transfer portal and teammates considering whether to hit the portal or stay with the Tigers.

“Everyone on this team knew that was how good of a program this is. So, if they’re going to hit the portal, it’s for their benefit,” Knaak said. “It’s not anything personal with this team. But everyone who’s here in this program is going to want to stay. Everyone wants to stay, but some guys, they gotta do what they gotta do and it’s fine.”

The NCBWA National Freshman Pitcher-of-the-Year and a first-team All-ACC selection, Knaak was 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA, .221 opponents’ batting average and 108 strikeouts against 29 walks in 83.1 innings pitched over 15 starts this season.

Knaak, who only allowed 14 extra-base hits, led the team in starts on the mound, innings pitched and strikeouts. Clemson had a 13-2 record in his 15 starts.
