Oliver Marett’s first time camping at Clemson happened when he was just a young kid.
The 2025 in-state offensive lineman (Belton-Honea Path) returned this summer, marking the third consecutive year he has worked out for the Clemson coaching staff. However, it was his first time working out in front of first-year offensive line coach Matt Luke.
“It was great,” Marett told The Clemson Insider. “Coaches really worked me a lot. Helped me get my form down to a tee, I do remember that. It was nice doing a three day camp, instead of a one day camp. I felt like I got better work one-on-one with the coaches. They weren’t trying to just rush prospects through and everything else. They took time to try to work with everybody.”
Growing up a Clemson fan, Marett has always felt drawn to Dabo Swinney’s program, and he feels this camp is a little different than most he has attended.
“A lot more hands on,” Marett said. “They’re trying to work with everybody, just not work with the big guys that they’re going to offer. They are trying to help you get better. And no combine stuff.”
The in-state prospect also felt he left camp a better player than when he arrived.
“My main thing was I was kicking, as far as width wise, I was leaving inside open,” he said. “And I was turning my shoulders at the end. Basically, their main thing was to stay square with kicks.”
Marett has made several camp stops this summer to go along with working out at Clemson. He participated in a Rivals camp, a Prep Red Zone Combine and a National Army Bowl Combine, along with making stops at South Carolina, Wofford and Newberry. He is at Charleston Southern on Wednesday. Next month he will work out at App State and The Citadel.
He is hearing from Charlotte, Wofford and North Greenville, and has had contact with Clemson and South Carolina. Charleston Southern has also been in contact recently. Although, an offer from Clemson would be the ultimate dream.
“It would mean the world to me, having my childhood team offer me,” Marett said. “But at the end of the day, it’s the Lord’s will.”
