This college football analyst/host sees Peter Woods as the next Clemson superstar.
Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus raved about Woods while breaking down the stud sophomore defensive lineman during the PFF College Football Show.
“He was phenomenal this past year… He is just a monster, man…,” Chadwick said. “He was kind of a rotational player for Clemson last year because they had Ruke Orhorhoro, they had Tyler Davis, who both were drafted into the NFL this past April. That just shows how good he was in the role he had for Clemson last year.”
A former five-star prospect, Woods was certainly impressive as a freshman, when he posted 27 tackles (2.5 for loss) and a forced fumble in 307 snaps over 12 games (two starts) en route to being named a freshman All-American by various outlets.
Woods was also credited with 10 quarterback pressures, the most of any Clemson defensive tackle. The 6-foot-2, 315-pounder is expected to be deployed in a versatile role on the Tigers’ defensive line in 2024 and see action at defensive end during the upcoming season as well.
On the PFF College Football Show, Woods was ranked as the fifth-best defensive tackle in college football right now, but Chadwick is confident the powerful and freakish athlete will find himself at the top of the list after this season.
“I think Woods is going to be a household name. He is one of the biggest breakout stars in college football,” Chadwick said of Woods, who came to Clemson as ESPN’s No. 9 overall prospect.
“Because I know a lot of people don’t really know about him right now because of him being kind of a rotational guy for them last year. But he was so freaking dominant for Clemson, and such a young player, too. He is quickly going to be one of the top D-tackles in the country, and I can bet you right now, I bet you he’ll be our number one player on this list next year as well.”
