Top-150 Recruit Staying in Touch with Tigers, Planning Return Visit

This highly touted edge rusher from the Tar Heel State remains on Clemson’s radar and is staying in touch with the Tigers.

Rolesville (N.C.) High School four-star defensive end Zavion Griffin-Haynes has been communicating with Clemson defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin and defensive ends coach Chris Rumph.

Griffin-Haynes, a top-150 national prospect in the 2026 class, recently spoke with The Clemson Insider about what he’s been hearing from the aforementioned coaches and more.

“I’ve mainly been chatting it up with Coach Rumph and Coach Goodwin,” Griffin-Haynes said.

“They love me, can’t wait to get things started with those guys and think I can play a big role in their program.”

Griffin-Haynes has been standing out on the camp circuit and picked up an offer from Ohio State earlier this month following a strong camp performance. Ole Miss gave him his latest offer on Sunday.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound rising junior holds more than 20 total offers – including offers from Auburn, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others – and he is feeling plenty of love from the various coaching staffs recruiting him.

“It’s been going great,” he said of the recruiting process.

Griffin-Haynes made his first trip to Clemson last September, when he was an unofficial visitor for the Florida Atlantic game, and he plans on returning to Death Valley during the upcoming season.

“I will be back definitely for a game,” he said. “Loved the atmosphere.”

What has he heard from the Tigers regarding a potential offer from Dabo Swinney’s program?

“They’re looking forward to offering me soon,” he said. “They would’ve offered me during camp season but I didn’t have the chance to come up. Definitely a top school.”

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Griffin-Haynes is the No. 11 edge defender and No. 126 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.

As a sophomore last season, he posted more than 50 total tackles, 20-plus tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks to go with 20 quarterback pressures and over a half dozen pass breakups.
