After taking a spring visit to Clemson, Dillon Alfred has patiently stayed the course, waiting on an offer from Clemson.
While the 4-star wideout (Saraland, AL) would commit to Ole Miss back in April, in the back of his mind he was still seeking that offer from the Tigers. In early June, Alfred, along with his mother, returned to campus to work out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp, and was one of the best looking receivers to participate this summer. It was the only camp he attended this summer.
After that workout, the Clemson coaching staff told him to remain patient, that the offer was coming. Three weeks later they delivered, with Alfred going public with the offer on Monday, about half an hour after his decommitment from Ole Miss was announced.
“I mean, it’s a blessing,” Alfred told The Clemson Insider. “I’m happy. I love Clemson. I like everything that is going on over there.”
For Alfred, there isn’t just one thing that sticks out about Clemson. It’s the entire package. From the unique culture Swinney has cultivated inside the program, to his relationship with the coaches on staff.
“Basically, the environment there and the coaching staff,” Alfred said. “I love that coaching staff over there. The facility, the campus. I love everything about Clemson. The history they have there. Again, I love the coaches there, and I love the way they treat their players.”
Add in that he feels like what the Tigers do on offense really suits his skillset, and it almost seems like the perfect match.
“I feel like I could slide right in perfectly,” Alfred said. “My skill, my talent and what I do out on the field, I feel like I would fit in perfectly.”
The blue-chip talent has already informed the coaches that he plans to attend the All In Cookout in July.
“Basically going to just spend some more time there,” Alfred said. “My whole family is going, and my family loves it there. Spend more time talking to the coaches and just enjoy our time there. Looking forward to having a great time and having great conversations with the coaches.”
However, with his recruitment having just reopened, Alfred isn’t going to be rushed into a decision, and he maintains there is no pressure coming from Clemson for him to make one. Right now he is looking to have one made by the start of August, but at the same time he also added it’s possible it could come earlier. Maybe even before the cookout.
“It could, but I don’t really know. Anything could happen.”
