The 4-star DE (Grimsley, NC) committed to the Tigers on July 20, choosing Clemson over other finalists Georgia, South Carolina and Duke. While the Blue Devils were getting some love leading up to the announcement, Davis would ultimately choose Dabo Swinney’s program.
“You can’t describe it,” Davis told the Clemson Insider regarding the culture at Clemson after his announcement. “Like (coach Swinney) says, there’s something different about it. When you step on campus, there is a different feeling. The people are different. They move different and they act different, and it really shows in they way they play and how they fight for each other.”
However, over the past two months, Duke has continued to pursue Davis hard, and those efforts have now paid off, as the 4-star talent becomes the first blue-chip prospect to commit to the Blue Devils in the 2025 class.
Davis’ decommitment leaves Clemson with just 14 verbal pledges in the 2025 recruiting class. Ranking No. 59 overall and No. 8 among all defensive linemen in the 247 Composite Rankings, Davis was the Tigers’ fourth-highest rated commit in the class.
