Swinney Gives Injury Updates on Two Offensive Starters

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney joined ACC Network’s ACC Huddle show for an on-set interview Saturday night following the 25th-ranked Tigers’ 66-20 victory over App State at Death Valley.

Swinney gave injury updates on a couple of starters on the offensive side of the ball, including sophomore wide receiver Tyler Brown.

“Tyler kind of rolled his ankle so he was limited, so we just held him,” Swinney said.

Swinney also updated the status of starting left guard Marcus Tate. The senior was injured in the third quarter of last Saturday’s season opener against Georgia, and Swinney said this past week that Tate was “getting better each day.”

“We didn’t play Marcus Tate tonight,” Swinney said after the App State game. “We were able to hold him. He was ready if we needed him, but we were able to hold him.”

Following an open date next Saturday, Sept. 14, Clemson will return to Death Valley for its ACC opener against NC State on Saturday, Sept. 21.
