A former five-star prospect from Alabama and 2023 freshman All-American, Woods came into this season credited with 27 tackles (2.5 for loss) and a forced fumble in 307 snaps over 12 games (two starts) last season.
It looks like No. 21 Clemson will be without this star defensive player for today’s game vs. NC State.
Starting defensive end Peter Woods came out in sweats and tennis shoes prior to kickoff at Memorial Stadium.
Woods was not stretching with the other defensive linemen, who were in shorts and cleats.
In his final media availability of the week on Wednesday evening, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said that Woods was “still day-to-day” ahead of today’s game, which is set to kick off at noon and will be televised on ABC.
Woods suffered an injury early in the second quarter vs. App State on Sept. 7, when Woods was chop blocked below the knees by Mountaineers tight end Eli Wilson.
Prior to the App State game, Woods tallied a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss, including his first career sack, among his six tackles in Clemson’s season opener against Georgia.
