CLEMSON — Clemson hopes to earn its 16th straight victory over Wake Forest Saturday (noon, ESPN), when the 10th-ranked Tigers head to Winston-Salem, N.C.
Offensive lineman Tristan Leigh spoke with the media earlier this week to give his thoughts on a wide variety of topics.
–While Clemson picked up the win last Saturday, it is now time to focus on who is next. Leigh said, “I feel like we do a good job of focusing on being inside out and not worrying about those upsets that happened last week in college football.” The redshirt junior said the team looks at each game as the most important of the season and they “take that seriously in our preparation.”
–Running back Phil Mafah and Leigh are roommates. After Mafah ran for 154 yards in the Tigers’ win over Florida State last week, Leigh was asked if Mafah comes and thanks the offensive line after the game. “He always comes and thanks us, even when we do make a mistake. He will never point fingers at anybody. We’re all in it together and we all understand that, he always shows love man, he’s awesome,” Leigh said.
–The offensive line was charged with its first sack of the season last week. Leigh was asked what they do on the sideline and in the film room to keep sacks from happening. He said, “Look at the tape. Look at what happened and learn from it. That’s the best way to handle that situation…learn from it and do what we have to do so it doesn’t happen again.”
–Leigh called offensive line coach Matt Luke very detail orientated and very “intentional about practice.” He said, “You never know when it is going to be that play that changes the game…tuning in and focusing on those details because ultimately that’s what makes the play successful.”
