Clemson Football Player has Surgery

CLEMSON — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest update on wide receiver Tyler Brown.

Brown was not dressed for the 10th-ranked Tigers’ 48-31 victory over Virginia on Saturday. Before the game, he was on the field with a boot on his left leg and moving around on a scooter.

Swinney said Brown had tightrope surgery this past week on his ankle and he is hopeful the sophomore receiver will be back in two weeks when the Tigers host Louisville on Nov. 2 at Memorial Stadium.

“We are hopeful, especially with the open date that he is going to make some really good strides,” Swinney said. “He was going well, but he kind of plateaued… He kind of made that decision, so this will hopefully help that last little piece of healing.”

Brown played sparingly at Florida State on Oct. 5, and dressed, but did not play, at Wake Forest last week. The sophomore has five catches for 30 yards and no touchdowns this year, after leading the Tigers in receptions, yards and touchdowns last season.
