Williams Comments on Future Beyond Clemson

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney raved about Antonio Williams last week while discussing the redshirt sophomore wideout’s key role in the Tigers’ offensive resurgence this season.

Swinney called Williams “a future pro,” and on Wednesday, Williams commented on his future beyond Clemson when he met with the media.

The explosive third-year playmaker made it clear that he has aspirations to become an NFL player one day, but right now, he’s not focused on what lies ahead professionally and whether or not he might declare early for the NFL Draft after this season.

“I just try not to focus on that,” Williams said. “Obviously that’s my goal, is to end up playing in the NFL. But right now, I just feel like it’s better if I just focus week by week and game by game, and then put myself in the best position at the end of the year to maybe do that. But right now, I’m just keeping my head down.”

A former four-star and top-100 national recruit from Dutch Fork High School who enrolled at Clemson in the summer of 2022, Williams has 28 catches for a team-high 393 yards and team-leading five touchdown receptions through seven games in 2024.

This season, the versatile 5-foot-11, 190-pounder also has 84 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on four carries and is 2-of-2 passing for 62 yards and another score, not to mention he has 112 punt return yards on 11 returns.

Williams joined C.J. Spiller (2008 and 2009), Jacoby Ford (2009) and Sammy Watkins (2012) as the fourth Clemson player since 2000 to record a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in a single season.
