Former Clemson Star Reportedly Being Traded

A former Clemson star wide receiver is reportedly headed to play for a new NFL team.

Ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, Mike Williams is being traded from the New York Jets to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Williams was in his first season with the Jets. He signed a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the Jets in March after being released by the Los Angeles Chargers.

The 6-foot-4, 218-pounder posted 12 receptions for 166 yards in nine games with New York this season.

Prior to this season, Williams, 30, spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Chargers, who made him the seventh overall selection in the 2017 draft.

One of the NFL’s most dynamic and explosive wide receivers, Williams recorded 19 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown for the Chargers in 2023 before his season was cut short by a torn ACL.

Williams has dealt with injuries throughout his time in the league but been productive when healthy, piling up 321 catches for 4,972 yards and 31 touchdowns across 97 career games.
