N.Y. OL Loving Life as Clemson Pledge, ‘Can’t Wait’ to Start Career

Rowan Byrne is loving life as a Clemson commitment in the 2025 class.

Byrne gave his verbal pledge to the Tigers’ program this past summer, and The Clemson Insider recently caught up with the four-star offensive lineman from Iona Preparatory in New Rochelle, N.Y.

“Life as a commit has been great. I’m just really excited to enroll and get started!” Byrne said.

“Reflecting back on the decision, the culture and what Clemson is and how well I fit in are the main reasons I decided to become a Tiger.”

Byrne is slated to enroll early at Clemson in January.

What has the 6-foot-6, 300-pound senior been hearing from the Tigers’ coaching staff lately as he gets ready to officially join the program?

“Mainly I’ve heard from the staff how excited they are to finally have me on campus and enrolled and a part of the offensive line room,” Byrne said. “January is coming really fast.”

Byrne is bullish on the potential of Clemson’s 2025 class, which currently ranks as the country’s 16th best 2025 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings.

The Tigers have 14 total commitments in their class right now, and Byrne believes the collection of talent has a very bright future in Tiger Town.

“I think we have an amazing class,” he said. “The sky’s the limit, it’s a pretty close group and there’s so much talent in the class. The potential for the group is crazy.”

It’s been difficult for Byrne to arrange a gameday visit to Death Valley this season, but he is stoked to get on campus for good when January rolls around and begin his career as a Tiger offensive lineman.

“I’ve been hoping to make it to a game this year, it’s been hard with the way my high school schedule has been and how Clemson’s schedule has fallen,” he said.

“I will be enrolling in January, though, and it’s coming quick. I can’t wait to start my career at Clemson, I really can’t explain how excited I am to start this next chapter and get started. The coaches feel the same way. They’re really excited to finally have me as a part of the program.”

Byrne is ranked by Rivals as the No. 1 prospect in the state of New York and No. 18 offensive guard nationally for the 2025 class. He announced his commitment to Clemson on June 6 after making his official visit to campus and chose the Tigers over a slew of other college options, including his finalists – Michigan State, Penn State, Texas A&M, Stanford and Florida State.
