CLEMSON – After being shipped to the Steelers last week at the trade deadline, former Clemson wideout Mike Williams wasted no time in making his mark on the offense.
Williams only played nine snaps in his Pittsburgh debut against the Commanders, but he would make the most of them. The wide receiver reeled in his only target of the game, a 32-yard touchdown catch which would prove to be the game-winner.
With him now playing for the Steelers, it is being reported that Williams will be on hand at Acrisure Stadium for Clemson’s road matchup against Pitt this weekend.
Williams caught 15 balls for 202 yards and a touchdown in a home loss to the Panthers in 2016.
Williams spent four years at Clemson (2013-16), helping guide the Tigers to a national title in 2016. The wideout was a second-team All-American that season after leading the Tigers in receptions (98), receiving yards (1,361) and receiving touchdowns (11).
This came after Williams suffered a fractured neck in a collision with the goal post padding on Clemson’s first drive of the season of the 2015 season. He would end up redshirting.
In three seasons, Williams totaled 177 receptions for 2,727 yards and 21 touchdowns in 1,871 snaps over 42 games (30 starts) in his career. He left Clemson ranked third in school history in receiving touchdowns, fourth in receiving yards and fifth in receptions.
