CLEMSON — The fourth set of College Football Playoff Rankings in the 12-team playoff era were released Tuesday night.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee released its latest Top 25 rankings in front of the final week of the regular season.

Clemson (9-2, 7-1 ACC) moved up to No. 12 in the latest CFP rankings for the weekend of Nov. 30.

The Tigers checked in at No. 23 in the initial CFP rankings that were released on Nov. 5 and were at No. 20 in the second set Nov. 12. Clemson checked in at No. 17 in last week’s rankings.

Tuesday marked the fourth of six weekly playoff rankings shows televised on ESPN throughout this season. The CFP Top 25 announcements will go through the sixth and final reveal on Selection Day (Sunday, Dec. 8).

Of course, this is the inaugural season of the 12-team playoff format, which features the five highest-ranked conference champions, plus the next seven highest-ranked teams as determined by the CFP Selection Committee.

The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and each will receive a first-round bye, while teams seeded No. 5 through No. 12 will play each other in the first round on the home field of the higher-seeded team.

The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played in the New Year’s Six bowl games, and the national championship game will continue to be at a neutral site.

After seeing its playoff hopes take a big hit with an upset loss to Louisville on Nov. 2 at Memorial Stadium, Clemson has bounced back with three consecutive wins, including last Saturday’s 51-14 victory over The Citadel.

The Tigers face archrival South Carolina (noon/ESPN) on Saturday. The Gamecocks are ranked No. 15 in the latest CFP Rankings.

Clemson will also be paying attention to what is going on at Syracuse Saturday afternoon as well. If the Orange knocks off Miami at the Dome, then the Tigers will play SMU in next week’s ACC Championship Game in Charlotte.
