Swinney: ‘Everybody is Pissed’

CLEMSON — Though No. 12 Clemson lost a 17-14 heartbreaker to No. 15 South Carolina Saturday at Memorial Stadium, the Tigers focus was not on anything else.

In fact, Clemson was too pissed to want to do anything else.

Despite the loss to the Gamecocks, the Tigers (9-3) can backdoor their way into next week’s ACC Championship Game in Charlotte, should No. 6 Miami fall to Syracuse in the Dome. That game is currently being played.

During his postgame press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked if the team was getting together to watch the game.

“No,” Swinney said with a chuckle while shaking his head. “No. No. No. Everybody is pissed. There is a lot of disappointment. There is no gathering. We did not get the job done today.”

Swinney said he planned to go home and watch the game, though.

“I’ll watch it to see what happens, but whatever God has for us, He has for us,” he said. “That is how I look at it. We will know our next step here pretty soon. Then we will pick ourselves up, dust off and see if we can go finish the way we want to finish. Then learn and grow from everything this year and see if we can get better next year.”
