Georgia will reportedly be without its starting quarterback for at least its first College Football Playoff matchup.
According to reports, Carson Beck has a UCL injury and will miss the Sugar Bowl.
The redshirt senior signal-caller was injured on the last play of the first half in Georgia’s victory over Texas in the SEC Championship Game this past Saturday.
Beck was replaced by redshirt sophomore quarterback Gunner Stockton, who helped rally the Bulldogs to the overtime win over the Longhorns. Stockton went 12-of-16 passing for 71 yards with an interception, while Beck completed 7-of-13 passes for 56 yards before going down with his injury.
Coming into this season, Beck was widely considered the top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class and a potential No. 1 overall pick. However, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder has had his share of struggles this year and has thrown 12 interceptions. He’s also completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Georgia released a statement Monday providing an injury update on Beck, saying “he and his family are exploring treatment options and there is no current timetable on his return.”
The Bulldogs, who are seeking their third national title in four seasons, earned a first-round bye with their win in the SEC Championship. They are the No. 2 seed in the CFP and will face the winner of No. 7 seed Notre Dame and No. 10 seed Indiana in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 (8:45 p.m., ESPN).
The feeling in talking with multiple sources in and around the Georgia Bulldog football program is QB Carson Beck has a UCL elbow injury and will miss the Sugar Bowl.
