Texas’ Defense is Solid Everywhere

CLEMSON – Clemson drew the 12-seed in the first round of the College Football Playoff and is heading to Austin, Texas to face the No. 5 seed Texas Longhorns. This will be the first meeting between the two historic programs.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik spoke about his return to his hometown, Texas’ defense and more.

–When Klubnik found out he would be returning home to Austin for the first round of the College Football Playoff, he said, “I kind of enjoyed it for a little bit and then locked in on the people were playing.” He said that has been excited about the thought of going home, but since last Tuesday, his focus has been on the game.

–The junior was asked to reflect on the last drive in the ACC Championship game. He said, “It was unbelievable. It was definitely 16 seconds that I’ll definitely never forget. It was really cool, I think that it was a really special moment for our whole team…everything came together.”

–Klubnik will have two weeks to prepare for the Longhorns by the time Saturday roles around. Talking about Texas’s defense, he said, “Watching the tape, they’re solid on defense everywhere. They’ve got a great defense, one of the best in the country. It will definitely be a really fun opponent to go against.”
