Looking Ahead: Clemson QB Room

In most recruiting cycles, Clemson will sign one quarterback.

Despite not taking a player at the position in 2024, the Tigers elected to sign just one in 2025, flipping Chris Denson late after longtime commit Blake Hebert flipped to Notre Dame.

However, despite how the past two recruiting cycles have played out, Clemson still appears to be in fairly solid shape when looking toward the future.

As expected, Cade Klubnik announced earlier this week that he will indeed return for his senior campaign. While Klubnik does have just one season of eligibility remaining, his backup, Chris Vizzina, will still have two more years once Klubnik is done. That means Vizzina is the obvious choice as the heir apparent.

Vizzina, who was at one time considered a 5-star talent while in high school, is the rare breed in this new era of college football. Not many quarterbacks are willing to come in and sit for three years before getting an opportunity, but Vizzina is that guy.

While he’s only played sparingly across his first two seasons with the Tigers, Dabo Swinney has never wavered in his confidence that Vizzina is the next man up.

“Y’all don’t know nothing about Vizzina. He’s a dude,” the head coach said earlier this season. “He could have left ten times already, but that kid’s right here. He’s in the crockpot getting better and you’ll eventually see that.”

Clemson has also secured commitments from two quarterbacks in the 2026 class. 4-star Tait Reynolds committed back in the summer, and 3-star Brock Bradley announced during the season.

Reynolds is an intriguing prospect. He is a two-sport star that also excels on the baseball diamond. Some have wondered if Reynolds might choose to play pro baseball after high school but he’s been adamant about his intention on playing college football at Clemson.

The recruiting services vary on him, but Rivals ranks him as one of the ten-best quarterbacks in the class. At 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, Reynolds is big and is a true dual-threat. He possesses a strong arm and when he takes off running he does it with physicality.

Reynolds had a phenomenal junior season, completing 62% of his passes for 2,238 yards with 22 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He added another 1,426 yards via his legs with 19 touchdown runs and averaged more than 100 rushing yards per game.

Bradley finished his junior season completing 66% of his passes for 2,687 yards with 32 touchdowns to just six interceptions in his second year as the full-time starter.

As it stands right now, the Tigers quarterback room looks to be in pretty good shape. At the same time, a lot of that will hinge on development and how some of these players grow over the next couple of years.

Another important piece will be keeping the committed guys in the fold. In today’s world of college football, decommitments are at an all-time high. Clemson experienced seven in the 2025 recruiting cycle alone, including a quarterback.
