Clemson Makes Huge Transfer Portal Splash

Clemson has made a major splash in the NCAA transfer portal by landing a big-time talent from Alabama.

The Tigers have dipped into the portal again and picked up a huge addition in Alabama transfer linebacker Jeremiah Alexander.

Alexander is a former five-star prospect who was considered one of the nation’s top players, regardless of position, in the 2022 recruiting class. According to the 247Sports Composite, he was the No. 1 edge defender and No. 18 overall prospect in the country for his class.

A redshirt sophomore, Alexander spent three years with the Crimson Tide from 2022-24. The 6-foot-2, 249-pounder contributed on defense and special teams during his time in Tuscaloosa, finishing with nine tackles in 27 career games.

Alexander hails from Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.), where he was teammates with Clemson defensive lineman Peter Woods. Alexander and Woods helped lead Thompson to the 2021 state championship.

As a true freshman in 2022, Alexander appeared in four games and posted one tackle while redshirting. The inside backer moved to the outside to start the 2023 season, when he totaled three tackles in 14 games, primarily on special teams. In 2024, he missed the first three games of the season recovering from injury and recorded five tackles in 10 games.

Clemson was heavily involved with Alexander during his recruiting process. He ended up committing to Alabama on July 8, 2021, choosing the Crimson Tide over the Tigers and other schools such as Georgia and UCF.

Alexander becomes Clemson’s third transfer portal acquisition this cycle, joining former Southeast Missouri State wide receiver Tristan Smith and former Purdue defensive end Will Heldt.

Alexander joins Clemson with two remaining years of eligibility.
