Hunter Renfrow left behind a legendary legacy with Clemson, as the former walk-on put together one of the most unlikely but storied careers in school history.
Renfrow is best remembered for his prowess as a receiver, and of course, scoring the game-winning touchdown with one second left in the Tigers’ 2016 national championship victory over Alabama. The two-time All-ACC selection finished his Clemson career with 186 receptions for 2,133 yards and 15 touchdowns in 55 games and set school records for starts by a receiver (47) and consecutive games with a reception (43).
Renfrow left Clemson ranked fifth in career receptions and 11th in career receiving yards, but he did more than just catch passes during his time in Tiger Town.
Renfrow also contributed as an emergency quarterback and punter as a senior in 2018, and he did it all at Wake Forest that year.
On Oct. 6, 2018, Renfrow played wide receiver, punter and quarterback in the Tigers’ 63-3 romp over Wake Forest. During that game, Renfrow caught two passes for 21 yards, unleashed a 42-yard punt and completed a pass for 2 yards. While playing quarterback in that contest, he made a key backside block 25 yards downfield after handing the ball off on Lyn-J Dixon’s 52-yard touchdown run.
The ACC Digital Network threw it back to that day in Winston-Salem and highlighted Renfrow’s do-it-all performance against the Demon Deacons. Check it out below:
