Recently Offered Defender Calls Clemson ‘Bigtime Program’

Two weeks ago, Clemson handed out a new offer to Blake Stewart.

The 4-star safety, out of Woodward Academy (Atlanta, GA), has caught the attention of some of the top programs in the country, as evidenced by some of the coaches stopping in to visit him during the contact period.

Coaches from Georgia, Nebraska, Miami, Michigan State and SMU are just some that have stopped in to visit this week.

On Thursday, head coach Dabo Swinney and safeties coach Mickey Conn were in to visit Stewart.

“I started hearing from Clemson a little while back,” Stewart told The Clemson Insider. “They told me about the offer during a conversation, and I was really excited to get it. Clemson is a bigtime program, so it’s definitely a great offer to have.”

Stewart now has more than two dozen offers under his belt. Michigan, Cal, Nebraska and West Virginia have all the pulled the trigger in the past few days.

Last week he was at Texas and before that he visited Florida. He is hoping to get back to Clemson at some point in the spring. He was last on campus in November for the Louisville game.

“I’ve got a few visits coming up but still figuring out my full schedule,” Stewart added. “I’d like to get back to Clemson in the spring if I can. A few schools have been really consistent with me. But I’m keeping my options open.”

With his recruitment really starting to heat up, Stewart is taking things slowly. He has yet to really zero in on a timeline as far as making a decision. Right now, he is trying to just enjoy the process.

“Just the right fit,” Stewart said. “Somewhere I can develop, compete, and feel at home.
