Hopkins Shares Inspirational Message Ahead of Super Bowl

Dream big despite the circumstances.

That’s the message from former Clemson star and current Kansas City Chiefs receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was born in Central, South Carolina and came from humble beginnings to make it in the NFL.

The five-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler took to social media Monday with a heartfelt post and inspiring message of perseverance to kids facing challenges/adversity and growing up in difficult situations like he once did.

Hopkins, a 12-year NFL veteran and one of his generation’s greatest wideouts, had this to say as he gets ready to play in his first Super Bowl this weekend:

To all the kids out there living in small towns, in small houses, with single parents. To the kids who see violence, who see loss, who don’t get the resources they deserve, but who still have big dreams. Know that I was a kid in your exact shoes and this week I’m playing in the Super Bowl. Don’t give up, work hard, keep believing. Where you start doesn’t determine where you end up.

Starring at Clemson from 2010-12, Hopkins entered the NFL in 2013 as a first-round pick of the Houston Texans in that year’s NFL Draft.

More than a decade later, the 32-year-old has amassed 984 receptions for 12,965 yards and 83 touchdowns during his NFL career with the Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans and Chiefs.

Hopkins and the Chiefs are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday in New Orleans (6:30 p.m., FOX).
