Tigers Finally Back in AP Top 25

The Clemson men’s basketball team is finally back in the AP Top 25.

Clemson (19-5, 11-2 ACC) checked in at No. 23 in the latest AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll released Monday.

This marks the first time the Tigers have been ranked in the AP Poll since they were No. 25 in the poll released Dec. 16. Clemson fell out of the poll the next week after an overtime road loss at South Carolina on Dec. 17.

After suffering an 89-86, triple-overtime loss to Georgia Tech this past Tuesday in Littlejohn Coliseum, the Tigers bounced back in a big way by beating then-No. 2 Duke, 77-71, in a thriller at Littlejohn Coliseum on Saturday night.

With the victory, Clemson handed the Blue Devils (20-3, 12-1) their first ACC loss of the season and snapped Duke’s 16-game winning streak, which was the longest active streak in Division I.

The Tigers have now won five of their last seven home games vs. Duke, and Clemson earned its fifth consecutive win vs. an AP top-five opponent – the longest active streak in Division I.

Clemson has won 10 of its last 12 games overall and is currently tied with Louisville (18-6, 11-2 ACC) for second place in the ACC standings, one game behind Duke.

Clemson returns to the court tonight against North Carolina (14-10, 7-5 ACC) in Littlejohn. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN.
