Bear McWhorter is nearing the end of his recruitment.
On Monday, the 4-star offensive lineman (Cass, GA) announced a commitment date of Feb. 28
McWhorter’s five finalists are Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Clemson and South Carolina.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound prospect picked up an offer from the Tigers last summer after an unofficial visit and then returned for the blowout win over App State in September.
“It’s the culture they’ve built,” McWhorter told The Clemson Insider recently. “It’s a winning program. They’re doing it the right way. They’re bringing in the right guys, and not just making it all about money, the transfer portal, or anything like that. Dabo is very consistent in what he does. He’s not going to switch for anybody. And that really stands out to me.”
McWhorter told The Clemson Insider last month that he was planning to return to Clemson for the Elite Retreat on March 8. However, he now appears to be headed elsewhere, meaning that visit isn’t likely to happen.
Rivals ranks McWhorter as the 11th-best interior lineman in the 2026 class.
