Clemson Coach ‘Can’t Get Ejected’ in This Position

Erik Bakich won’t be in the dugout for Clemson’s first two games of the 2025 season, but the Tigers’ head baseball coach will be on the airwaves instead.

Bakich met with the media Tuesday and said that while he serves his two-game suspension, he will be part of the Clemson Athletic Network radio broadcast for Clemson baseball games on WCCP 105.5 FM The Roar.

“I get to be on the radio. I can’t get ejected on the radio,” Bakich said Tuesday with a smile.

“So, I’ll be commentating to my best ability (on the Clemson Athletic Network). I’ll be on the radio and doing my very best from there.”

Bakich was hit with a two-game suspension after being ejected during the decisive 13th inning of Clemson’s 11-10, season-ending loss to Florida in Game 2 of the Clemson Super Regional last June.

When Bakich calls the games on the radio, he will have to do so from his hotel room.

“Weird, kinda dumb rule that I can’t even step foot in the stadium,” he said. “But whatever, we’ll make the best of it.”

Clemson starts its 2025 schedule this Friday against Oklahoma State – the first of three games in the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Texas from Feb. 14-16.

The Tigers’ home opener is against Presbyterian at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Feb. 19 at 4 p.m.
