One of Clemson’s top offensive line targets has arrived in town extremely early.
Four-star Adam Guthrie (Miami Trace, OH) was always planning to visit for the Elite Retreat on March 8. Guthrie told The Clemson Insider weeks ago that he was planning to come in on Friday and stay through Sunday, assuming his basketball schedule did not conflict with the date.
With his high school basketball season over after his team was eliminated from the playoffs, Guthrie has decided to come into town even earlier. The blue-chip talent confirmed with TCI that he arrived on campus Monday and still plans to stay through the weekend.
His last visit was for the blowout win over NC State in September.
“It definitely blew my expectations out of the water,” Guthrie said about that visit. “Definitely liked my time there.”
Offensive line coach Matt Luke visited Guthrie three times during the contact period, with head coach Dabo Swinney also being on hand for one of those visits.
Getting Guthrie on campus for the weekend was already a big deal, but getting him on campus for an entire week is huge for the Tigers, especially since they are already seen as the favorite to land the talented offensive lineman. A visit lasting that long is almost unheard of these days.
Guthrie has also already locked in plans to be at the big official visit weekend May 30 to June 1. We’ll see if his recruitment even lasts that long.
