Former Pro Bowler, Super Bowl Champ a Huge Fan of Lawrence

This former Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champ is a huge fan of former Clemson star and current New York Giants Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

Former NFL defensive tackle D’Marco Farr joined NFL Network’s Good Morning Football show this week and gave who he sees as the top three defensive tackles in the league right now.

Farr – a 1999 Pro Bowler who played for the Rams from 1994-2000, recorded 36.5 career sacks and won Super Bowl XXXIV with the Rams – ranked Lawrence as the NFL’s best defensive tackle.

Farr described Lawrence as a blend of Washington Redskins great Dexter Manley and Giants legend/Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor.

“Two of my favorite pass-rushers in life – Dexter Manley and Lawrence Taylor. If you combine them, you get Dexter Lawrence,” Farr said. “He is two guys wide. He essentially plays a two-gap no matter what scheme you’re in. His body and the body he’s shoving, the guard into that hole.”

Lawrence saw his 2024 season end early with an elbow injury on Nov. 28 against the Dallas Cowboys. But in his 12 games this past season, the 6-foot-4, 340-pounder posted a career-high nine sacks and career-high eight tackles for loss while recording 44 total tackles, 16 quarterback hits, a forced fumble and one pass defended.

Farr brought up Lawrence’s performance in New York’s win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5, when Lawrence sacked Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith three times, including a game-sealing sack on Seattle’s final offensive play.

“This was ridiculous,” Farr said of Lawrence against the Seahawks. “This is consecutive plays to end the game. It was absolutely a nightmare. I mean, imagine watching that on film, getting ready for that on Sunday. You won’t sleep at night. That’s an ‘Ambien player’ right there.”

Lawrence is fresh off his third straight Pro Bowl selection after also earning Pro Bowl honors in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He became the first New York Giants player to be voted to three straight Pro Bowls since safety Landon Collins from 2016-18.

Lawrence came in ahead of two other stalwarts — the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Cameron Heyward and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones – on Farr’s list of the top three NFL defensive tackles.

“Dexter Lawrence, my favorite defensive tackle to watch,” Farr said. “If you look at Dexter Lawrence, I think he’s their only Pro Bowler on defense, and he’s a wrecking machine.”

Now entering his seventh NFL season in 2025, Lawrence has racked up 310 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss and 30 sacks in his career since being selected by the Giants in the first round (17th overall) of the 2019 draft.
